The tests are carried out in one of the laboratory\u2019s 25 climatic chambers, under permanent metrological monitoring. <\/p>\n<p>After a specific length of time, defined for each species, analysts classify the seedlings into categories :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> normal seedlings<\/li>\n<li> abnormal seedlings<\/li>\n<li> dead seeds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The evaluation of normal and abnormal seedlings and of the different categories of non-germinated seeds is carried out according to the criteria set out by ISTA rules.<\/p>\n<p>When necessary, a pre-treatment to break dormancy can be applied (cold treatment, KNO3 or GA3, etc.).<\/p>\n<h3>The results<\/h3>\n<p>The percentage of seedlings per category is calculated to the nearest whol number and the % of seedlings in the \u201cnormal\u201d category is porvided as germination rate.<\/p>\n<p>These results can then be compared to the thersholds in technical regulations and\/or multiplication contracts.<\/p>\n<p>In France, for certain species, a percentage fixed by SEMAE for the \u201chard seeds\u201d category can be added to allow for the possible dormancy of the batch to be taken into account.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1669 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/BD_labosem-100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/BD_labosem-100.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/BD_labosem-100-1280x909.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/BD_labosem-100-980x696.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/BD_labosem-100-480x341.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) and (max-width: 1280px) 1280px, (min-width: 1281px) 2048px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Other related tests and services<\/h3>\n<p>This type of analysis is often requested as part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/analyses\/vos-besoins\/analyse-de-la-qualite-des-recoltes\/\">full analyses on raw seed samples<\/a>, but can also be requested in connection with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/analyses\/vos-besoins\/controles-de-stocks\/\">quality assessment of seed stocks<\/a>, of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/analyses\/vos-besoins\/sorties-usines\/\">purchased seed batches<\/a> or of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/analyses\/vos-besoins\/recoltes-experimentales\/\">seed batches from experimental plots.<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labosem.fr\/analyses\/vos-besoins\/controles-dachats-de-lots-de-semences\/\">Etc&#8230;<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Germination Unit implements tests intended to determine the germination faculty of the seed batches.
